We’re giddily excited to welcome ABBA Disco Wonderland – the greatest tribute club night in the world – to CC Festival this year. We asked head honcho Steffan to share his Soul Selections with us – and you guessed the theme…

Disco Wonderland has been such an amazing journey for us all. Kicking things off back in 2018, we brought the magical element of timeless ABBA hits and 70s classics to a select few venues across the UK. This grew into 5 national tours across 22 cities. There’s no doubt if you’re an ABBA fan you’ve probably reached one of our shows (if not, where have you been?!).

We are looking forward to bringing our resident DJs along to The Cambridge Club Festival this year to get the crowd singing their hearts out!

Choosing six ABBA tracks is like choosing which of your children you love the most – a difficult choice, but here we go:

Mamma Mia

When you think ABBA you think Mamma Mia. One great memory for us though is, during a gig in Reading on our last tour, the whole club plunged into a power cut 30 seconds into the track. Undeterred, the crowd sang the rest of the remaining 3 minutes, lyric-for-lyric, until the end of the song with no lights or music – just in time for the power to kick back in at the end. A true testament to the power of ABBA fans!

Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight)

Playing this song around half past 12 always makes the crowd go wild, as the lyrics start with that exact phrase "Half past 12". The words to the chorus for this tune are so simple but so effective on the dance-floor. The whole song is just made for that Disco party atmosphere.

Honey Honey

Being a bit of a dark horse track, we were surprised when so many young people knew every single lyric to this classic. It moved from filler to killer in a heartbeat, all thanks to the popularisation of the Mamma Mia film – and deservedly so! A staple in our sets.

Super Trouper

The Scottish single-handedly ranked this track up for us as a personal favourite. You pretty much haven’t lived until you hear “when I call you one night in Glasgow” being screamed by 3000 Glaswegians – it’s a magical moment that easily makes the top 6 for us on its own!

Waterloo

The short but very snappy song from ABBA. We normally save this classic towards the end of our sets, when the energy is running low after non-stop floor-fillers and sing-along anthems. This is the perfect pick me up tune to lift the energy up again on the dance floor!

Thank You For The Music

This is our classic end of the night round up track – was there ever a more fitting send off to an evening? It always finishes our set on a high, and we can’t wait to drop this one at the festival for some proper smiley summer vibes.
